Untouched
Lasercut acrylic sheets and lens
Photographed with Sony camera, Edited in Adobe Photoshop
This project is inspired by the idea that the things that cannot be touched in the material world are of the most importance, such as the human mind, spiritual connections, and love. The acrylics represent the material world, and each layer has a different circular pattern to show themes such as balance, repression, chaos, and inequality. The carefully structured black and white photos demonstrate the social expectations of efficiency and organization, while the shadows cast on the background suggest that we, as a society, need to reconnect with our sensibility and insight rather than settling for the surface. The truth is often grey like the shadow, easily distorted.
The colored photos show an entirely new way to arrange our material world, and even the shadows are more diverse and playful. This suggests that we have to look to the shadows of our existence to identify the issues, then change our material world for the better. The material world should support the spiritual realm, instead of crushing it.
